Memorial Park Volunteer Day 9/21 8a-10a
Since the inception of the Houston Area Trail Runners we have been building our relationship with the MPC and Suzanne who leads up the volunteer coordination.
As time has passed we have been helping with small projects with the MPC and have voiced our opinions on being at the forefront of anything that happens to the trails.
Through this time we have waited patiently to work on the trails as we wanted to go through the proper channels to work on the trails. The only way to work on the trails with the proper permits is through the MPC at the time. Over time the MPC is going to have volunteer leaders that will also be able to lead groups as well. We are also happy to acknowledge that we will be a part of this program as well.
So the MPC recently contacted us on helping to start work on the trails that we LOVE. So we are excited to announce our first of many work days with the MPC this Saturday.
We will get to help clean trash, debris and help to maintain the green trail on this first trip out.
This event is not limited to only HATR members as we want to encourage all people to volunteer if they would like. You can also bring friends, family and children to help as well.
The agenda for the cleanup would be Saturday 9/21/2013 8a-10am. We will meet at the outfield softball fields at the water hoses. We will meet an then walk along the green trail to volunteer. You can also look up Houston Area Trail Runners on google maps for the location.
We want to thank all the city of houston and all the memorial park conservancy for all they are doing on the trails. We realize that there is a lot of land to manage and we are committed to doing our part as HATRs to make sure the trails that we run are in the best condition possible.
See you all this Saturday from 8-10a as we give back to the trails and the MPC.
